Spunbond Cartridges - a better choice!

Spunbond cartridges are 100% non-woven polyester. There are several advantages to spunbond cartridges
which make them a better choice for powder coating applications.

Spunbond Cartridge Filter

The savings!

The initial cost of spunbond cartridges is considerably higher than that of paper cartridges, but the overall cost can be less. This is because spunbond filters can be washed and reused many times over. A big advantage with sticky powder! Also, at a filter changeout of powder coat paint filters, there is a loss of approximately 25 lbs. of paint with the paper filter, compared to approximately 3 lbs. of paint with the spunbond filter. This is due to the large area of paper, holding much more powder than the spunbond filter.

Supreme Cleaning Ability
Pulse cleaning of spunbond media cartridges is more effective than with paper or felt, because the pleats are spaced widely apart on the spunbond filters and the surface does not permit the particles to become embedded as in the case of felt and paper. Of course, since the spunbond holds less powder than the others, it has to be pulsed earlier. However, since pulsing is easier with spunbond filters, pulse pressure is lower than it is with paper or felt.

No fiber migration or linting!

Because spunbond media is produced from continuous fiber, it is not prone to fiber migration or linting. This is beneficial in powder coating where the possibility of fiber migration would not be acceptable.

More media laminations!

Other laminations onto spunbond media can be used to produce properties such as anti-static, even greater water repellency or resistance to acids.

Really Tough!

Spunbond filters are much more rugged than paper filters, making them the better choice for applications such as powder coating. They have a high burst strength; they are very resistant to abrasion water, heat, chemicals and are dimensionally more stable than paper filters. Here, one can clearly see the difference between spunbonded polyester -- and cellulose fibers.

Extremely high efficiencies!
Additional properties can be obtained by using other membranes. For example, extremely high filtering efficiencies can be achieved by P.T.F.E. membrane lamination onto the spunbond media. With an air/media velocity of 10ft./minute, a filter cartridge using P.T.F.E. laminated onto spunbond media achieves an efficiency of 99.65% at 0.3 micron d.o.p. and an efficiency of 100% at 1.0 microns.
